Sweet Nothings

Dough is mixing in the breadmaker, sugar/nutmeg/cinnamon filling.

Last night after dinner we were craving something sweet, which was no surprise for me because I have quite the sweet tooth. I decided to find a delicious cinnamon bun recipe online and put my breadmaker to use. This is the recipe I used. This was the first time I had tried to make cinnamon buns so I wasn't sure if they would turn out. A few hours later, we had ourselves some cinnamon buns and I must say, they turned out to be pretty good.

Reebok RunTones

On my third day in Las Vegas I headed to the Las Vegas Premium Outlets in search of the items on my shopping list. I decided to wear heels that day and after walking to find the bus stop and riding the bus for an hour, my feet were pretty tired. I decided to make my first stop at the Reebok outlet store to check out the RunTone shoes. My mom has had the EasyTone shoes for a few months and told me she has noticed a difference, so I decided to give the running version a try. I found my size in the RunTones and they were so comfortable that I decided to wear them for the remainder of my shopping trip. According to the product information I received, the shoes have "8 pods of moving air that force your muscles to work harder; encourages increased muscle activation, toning, strength and endurance" and "tone your calves, hamstrings and butt with every stride". I wanted to take them out for a run today but decided to give my body a day of a rest after returning from Vegas, so I wore them out walking my dog instead. I definitely felt a difference in my legs and butt, especially in my calves. I will be sure to post on the long term toning effects.

What Happens in Vegas...

Well tomorrow I'm off to Vegas for five days for a wedding. I've never been there before so I'm super excited. I'm not a big gambler, so I will probably spend most of my free time sitting by the pool, shopping and exploring the strip. I don't have too many items that I am looking for while shopping, but I love browsing to find unique pieces that I wouldn't be able to find at home. I've put together a short list of what I am looking for while I am there, but as always, I'm sure I will come home with much more than I anticipated buying.

1. Another pair of RayBans; either Wayfarers or Aviators. (They are much cheaper in the US than in Canada).
2. Reebook RunTone shoes. My mom has the EasyTone version and says they are awesome so I think I will check out the running version.
3. Accessories, belts, jewellery.
4. Anything and everything Forever 21. Hopefully I will be able to try on some of the items I have been eyeing on their website.

I'm off to see my favourite band The Cat Empire tonight at Folk Fest, then off to Vegas tomorrow morning. Have a great weekend!

Online Shopping Guide Part I

Being from a medium sized city in Western Canada that isn't exactly known for its fashion and abundance of shopping options, I do 90% of my shopping online. I like to have unique looks without running the risk of seeing someone in the exact same outfit that can be picked up at one of the few malls in the city. That being said, many American online stores are starting to recognize us Canucks north of the border and are offering affordable shipping to Canada. Over the next little while I am going to compile a list and review for some of my favourite online shopping sites that ship to Canada. Below is one of my favourites.



What can be better than hundreds of designers in the same place, helpful customer reviews, online coupon codes, great customer service and free shipping to Canada? Not much in my opinion. Revolve Clothing is my go-to website for denim, accessories, shoes and apparel. Whenever I hear about the newest denim craze, the first place I look is at Revolve because they are sure to have it. Revolve's site is easy to navigate; with options to shop by brand, category, sale items, new items and trends. Revolve is customer friendly in the way that it allows customers to create honest reviews on their products, which is very helpful for me when I'm not able to go to a physical store to try on a item. Revolve even has an outlet called Reverse where you can find their designer clothing for less. I must also mention that Revolve has incredible customer service. I have ordered from them handfuls of times and only once have I had to contact them regarding an order. An item was bagged incorrectly and I received the wrong denim leggings. I emailed Revolve with photos of the incorrect item and an explanation and they responded to me within 1/2 hour with a solution. They paid for the return shipping and I received the proper item within a week and a half. Be sure to check out Revolve for your next online shopping fix. Skinny Cargos

For the past two months I have been eyeing my favourite denim brand J Brand's Houlihan Twill Cargo Pants. I am usually an impulsive shopper but in this case I was hesitant to buy them because it gets really hot and humid here in the summer and I was unsure if I would get enough wear out of them this summer to justify the $230 price tag. After seeing them on numerous celebs on one of my favourite blogs, Denim Blog, I decided to search the web for a similar pair for a lower price. I began my search on one of my favourite online sites, Revolve Clothing, and fell in love with these skinny cargos from Blank Denim. The price was also nice - $81 US! On a breezy afternoon yesterday I decided to throw them on to run some errands. They are sooo soft, stretchy and comfortable. They will definitely be my go to pair of pants this summer and fall!

Lululemon loot

My favourite exercise gear for yoga, workouts and running is from Lululemon Athletica. Not only are they Canadian, but they also use the most breathable, sweat wicking fabrics that stay put through inversions, downward dog and sweaty workouts. Last week I ordered a few items from Lululemon Loot (their sale section) and they came in the mail yesterday. I decided to take them for a spin yesterday when I took my dog for a run and I was pleased with how they looked and how they stood up on my run. This is the first Run: Swiftly Tank I have owned and I have to say that it the lightest weight Lululemon tank I have owned. It kept me cool for my entire run in the hot, sticky weather yesterday. I am far from a gazelle when I run but I always feel confident in myself when I am wearing my Lululemon gear.
